History of Futura

Form follows function it is the Bauhaus design principle that inspired the elegantly geometric sans serif type Futura. The most influential font design of the Bauhaus era, Futura is beautifully utilitarian. Designed in 1927 by Paul Renner, it is a simple geometric font. Its trademark: long ascenders and descenders. The font barely conforms to the historical shape of the letters; rather, it displays an innate radicalism that stands the test of time.
