Embossing machine

I really really want one of these embossing machines. They are quite expensive of around £50 and up. But I think it will look so good for my Hotel Branding brief as it will show class and quality rather than having everything printed. When we next get our loan I will probably get one in the meantime I will look around and try find the cheapest one I can find.

Embossers are perfect for stamping addresses and monograms to personalise crafts, letters and cards, and for authenticating important documents.
They can also be used to protect against forgeries and unauthorised copies of certificates, limited edition prints and other artwork.

The cheapest ones are for type only but there is only a small range of type which is Helvetica and Times new Roman and I am using neither so I would have to go one up and have the simple graphics tool.

Sweet Boutique identity

Even though this branding is for a bakery, it is very classical and appears to be a high class top notch bakery with this serif type and swirl illustrations. As the restaraunt is also high class I want the identity to have a classic, yet modern feel.

Grandville island Hotel

Here are some photos that I took when I was in Vancouver and Grandville Island Hotel you can see a similar view, so I could use this as a poster or window display in the hotel.

Imagine an island in the middle of a city. A living, breathing urban oasis filled with fine waterfront restaurants, theatres, galleries, studios, unique shops, cafes and the most spectacular fresh food market you have ever seen. This is where Vancouver locals and visitors come together to be inspired, to be entertained, or simply to breathe in some of its unique atmosphere.

Granville Island Hotel

Located on Vancouver’s famous Granville Island we are nestled on the banks of False Creek overlooking the waterfront and beautiful downtown Vancouver. Our newly renovated hotel offers a sense of sophisticated elegance with all the comforts of home. Rejuvenate in our roof-top hot tub, gather with your colleagues in our elegant meeting rooms, and enjoy the amazing view from our Dockside Restaurant

Granville Island Hotel has an amazing view of the waterfront and downtown Vancouver so the view is what makes the hotel, and for this branding brief I want that to be the drive.

Over reading week i went home to take a photo of the flower shop in which I will be branding however, the weather wasn't very good so I think I will wait until spring to photograph this brief. As i want laser cutting to be the main aspect, I think having a letter head like this will look very cool. Also, I am undesisive where I want the hotel to be and depending on the location, that can be the theme.

Branding & identity

First impressions of a company are very important for branding. The first time people see a brand they will instantly make a judgement so it is important for me to create a brand that is memorable, elegant and attractive logo. A business card is a good start however, for the branding I will produce will require a lot more deliverables that need to communicate the correct message to the right target audience.

This boat has been laser cut and its a really nice finishing if you dont want to use print. I am hoping to do some laser cutting for the hotel branding as its something different and works very effectively.

concept hotel

Era Hotel is a budget boutique hotel located in Vancouver that caters to cash-conscious urban travellers. The challenge was to design approachable items keeping in mind production costs. The raw feel of the materials used, pared down colours and play with type create a casual and welcoming personality.
